Michigan Programs Reppin' @ Bill Hensley Run-n-Slam

Bill Hensley Memorial Run-n-Slam has been one of the premier basketball tournaments in the Midwest region for over 20 years.  Top teams from around the country including Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, & Wisconsin converge on the Spiece Fieldhouse, in Ft. Wayne, IN, to battle for this prestigious tournaments title.  Even though it is not a NCAA Certified Event, many college scouts and coaches will be in attendance.  ESPN, Rivals.com, and Scout.com have all covered and featured players from this event in the past.

Pool play began Friday night and will conclude with bracket play on Sunday.  Some of the top high school players from Michigan are on display showcasing their talent. Swingman Lamar Norman 6'0 SG Wyoming Godwin Heights, playing for 16U 1Nation Elite, is gaining some national attention with his ability to slash and score at the rim helping his team to a victory.  Duane Washington Jr 6'3 PG GR Christian, playing for MBA 16U National, led his team to a victory on Friday against PAE from Illinois.  He was MR. Do It All leading this team in scoring, rebounding, and assists.  With players like Jermaine Jackson Jr. 5'9 PG Dakota and Matt Beachler  6'4 PG Lowell suiting up for The Family and Xavier Tillman 6'10 PF GR Christian running with Indy Heat, this is a recruiters dream place to be.

Michigan is well represented with multiple teams in each of the four divisions.  With programs like The Family, MBA, 1Nation, GreenWood Elite, Mustangs, and Storm, Michigan teams have a great chance of bringing some hardware home.

2025 Power Rankings

Featured Team of the Week

THE FAMILY 2021 - DETROIT, MI

When it comes to the reference "WE ALL CAN GO" this team is one that can boast that title. Coming into the season as AAU's 3rd ranked team in the country, they have entered the travel season living up to the hype.  Showcasing talented players 1 thru 11, its hard to find a team more balanced. Watching this team play you can see the  passion and energy they bring to the court.  FAMILY is the appropriate name for this team.

This team excels in playing the game in every aspect.  When the team is in the open floor on the fast break Julian Roper 5'11 SG and Tyson Davis 5'10 SG transition game is tremendous.  They finish well at the rim, and thru contact.  Dana Holmes 6'1 SF can pretty much do everything on the court. When he decides to play the game consistently, mark my word-he will be trouble.  The Family also has the ability to bang you in the post with 6'4 C Garret Dellinger  swing it to the versatile wingman Jacory Wallace6'4 PF/C, or spread the floor and kick it out to sharp shooters Blake Goodman 5'9 SG  and Keyon Menifield 5'5 PG.  When it comes to guard play on this unit these young boys "put in work."  With Kareem Rozier 5'6 PG and Orlando Lovejoy 5'7 PG running the bird Coach Sean Moore has no worries.  Their poise and decision-making is ahead of their time.

Have you heard the term "pressure busts pipes"?  This team lives by it. Their defensive intensity is paramount to their success.  All these players can get you buckets, but its when defenders like Meiko Stewart 6'0 SG and Donovan Edwards 6'0 SG buckle down The Family defense is  suffocating.

They are undefeated in the state of Michigan and only have two losses on their record this season (both to #1 nationally ranked Team Teague).  This year they have claimed titles at top events like the Storm Classic, REACH Invitational, and All-Ohio Nike Grassroots Tourney.  Coach Moore hopes his squad can ride the wave into Indianapolis May 20-22 for the George Hill Invitational where he's hoping they can claim another title.  They are looking forward to a trip to the M.I.T. in the DMV in June and to AAU Nationals in July.  Team motto for 2016, "All The Way Up".

MS Player of the Week

DURRAL BROOKS 5'1 2024 - GRAND RAPIDS, MI

With the vision and court awareness of an 8th grader, this 4th grade phenom is ahead of his time.  His effort and ability to make other players better are just a few attribute that contribute to his national ranking.  Check out his mix below!!
